The book aims to increase peoples' knowledge of their rights, improve knowledge of themes associated with the Declaration and raise public awareness. Themes include justice and dignity, culture, environment, development, gender, participation. They are developed through essays by 12 authors including 5 Nobel-prize-winning, interviews with film directors and behind-the-scenes photographs taken on the short film sets. An impressive line-up of artists was involved in the project, from Marina Abramovic, Khaled Hosseini, Josè Saramago, Ruth Ozeki, and Elfriede Jelineke to Gabriel García Marquez and Roberto Saviano.
