The book begins with three critical essays by Miquel Adrià, Aaron Betsky and Juan José Lahuerta, outlining the background and career of Josep Lluís Mateo, and analyzing his modes and strategies of architectural design. His works of architecture, fine expressions of self-control and of an erudite capacity for creative confrontation with the tradition of contemporary architecture, make Mateo a figure of reference on the Spanish architecture scene today.
